East Marietta National Little League
T-Ball League Local Rules
All play shall be governed by the current Official Regulations and Playing Rules as published by Little League Baseball, Inc., and the following Ground Rules adopted by the EMNLL Board of Directors:
1. All players must wear a batting helmet with face guard when batting.
All players must wear a protective cup.
2. There is no on deck circle! There will be no swinging of bats on or off the field during games other than the act of hitting. Players must remain in the dugout until it is their turn to hit.
3. Each team shall employ a “bat-around” batting order, consisting of all team members present. The batting order should change each inning so that payers experience different situations.
4. A player not listed on the original batting order who arrives after the game starts is to be added at the bottom of the order.
5. Coaches should use discretion in deciding if a player is ready for a coach pitched ball or needs to hit off the tee. If a coach chooses to pitch the ball, much attention needs to pay attention to the angle of the ball as it comes a cross the plate. If a player fails to hit the ball after three pitches, the ball must be hit off the tee. There is no limit on the number of swings a player gets off the tee.
6. Balls hit to the outfield- once the ball reaches the outfield, the ball is dead and the runners may not advance to the next base.
7. All players shall take the field each inning.
8. There are no overthrows to a base. A runner may not advance due to a throwing error. Once a player attempts to make a play at a base the play is considered dead.
9. The position of catcher is not used in T-Ball.
10. Please encourage the fielders to throw whenever possible (as opposed to running to make an out).
11. Field Coaches: When a team is occupying the offensive position the team shall employ a first base coach, a third base coach, and a coach at the plate. When the team is occupying the defensive position they shall employee at a minimum an infield coach and an outfield coach.
Game Notes:
1. Coaches arrive 15-20 minutes before the game begins.
2. If you have the first game, unlock the t-ball equipment shed inside the visitor’s dugout
- Take out the helmets and bats; place behind home plate (teams share equipment)
- Fill the lining machine with chalk
- Chalk the grid by tracing the faded lines
3. Once players arrive, begin warm-up routine (visitors use left field, home uses right field)
4. The first team listed on the schedule is home, the second visitors (T1 vs. T2, T1 is home). If both coaches forget, just pick a side.
5. Please make every effort to begin the game on time, time is limited and the amount of play is determined by what time you start.
6. Games last 1 hour or 4 innings. No new inning should start after 50 minutes.
7. Visitors bat first. Coaches assist players at the plate. If you choose to pitch the ball, a coach helps the player at the plate while another pitches the ball. Coaches or volunteer parents should be the first base and third base coach.
8. Home takes the field first. Coaches should position players and remain on the field giving just enough instructions to help players.
9. After the game, teams line up along the first and third base lines at home plate to shake hands.
10. If you have the last game, please make sure all equipment is put up and the t-ball shed door is locked.
11. Please have any post game activity, including team snack, outside the dugout.
Team Mom Responsibilities:
- No other task is more important than the team snack schedule!
- Make sure a complete medical release form is filled out for each player and maintained in a file.
- Make sure a parent code of conduct has been filled out for each player.
- Coordinate team activity for family day (details distributed for organization).
- Coordinate picture day activity.
- Organize team party.
- Help pass out uniforms and create a list of players, with number, for coaches. This may be distributed to other parents. It’s a team decision.
