The purpose of the Little League All-Star Tournament is to compete at the highest level of play available to our league and the selection process is focused on assembling the strongest and most competitive teams possible at each age group. The policy below reflects EMNLL's efforts to ensure fairness and transparency, while also prioritizing the goal of fielding the best possible tournament teams.
All-Stars Policy
- Overview of Tournaments
- Little League Georgia hosts tournaments for teams aged 7u, 8u, and 9u.
- Little League International hosts tournaments starting from 10u up to Senior League division. The tournaments are globally recognized an offer our players a prestigious platform to showcase their skills.
- Tournament Progression
- The Tournament journey, for all ages, begins at the District Level. Teams must win at each stage to advance through to the next level.
- Tournaments hosted by Little League Georgia culminate at the State Level.
- Tournaments hosted by Little League International culminate in the World Series Tournament.
- Commitment to the team’s progression in tournaments is required, with an understanding that schedules may extend due to tournament success.
- Eligibility
- Players in both the Little League Georgia and the Little League International tournaments must meet the age requirements for their division by furnishing an original birth certificate.
- Players in the Little League International Tournament must meet the Residency or School Attendance Player Edibility Requirements as stipulated by Little Leage International.
- Players in all divisions except Senior League must have participated in at least eight (8) regular season games by the start of Tournament Play.
- Manager (Head Coach) Selection
- Division Commissioners must solicit manager candidates by April 1 for the age groups in their respective division.
- Commissioners shall submit the name(s) of their recommended Manager for each applicable All-Star age group to the Board of Directors for approval by April 15.
- Once approved by the Board of Directors, Managers select their assistant coaches from the pool of current head and assistant coaches within their respective division, subject to the approval of the District Administrator during the affidavit process.
- Division All-Star Selection Committess
- Each division’s All-Star Selection Committee consists of:
a. The Division Commisioner; and
b. All Spring season head coaches within the respective division. - All-Star Selection Committees are responsible for evaluating eligible players and selecting 12-14 players for each tournament team under its jurisdiction.
- If the All-Star Selection Committees cannot resolve a decision, the Division Commissioner has final authority to resolve disputes.
- Selection Methods
- All-Star Selection Committees may use any combination of the following selection methods, as its discretion:
a. Structured player evaluations;
b. Player voting;
c. Coach voting;
d. Observed regular-season performance;
e. Consensus selections. - Any single method may be weighted, limited to a portion of selections, or used dolely as an informational tool.
- The All-Star Committee determines the method and weighting, if applicable, and shall notify the Board of Directors of the selection method(s) to be used no later than April 15.
- Annonucement of All-Star Rosters
- Player rosters for teams participating in tournaments hosted by Little League Georgia (7u, 8u, 9u) will be released no earlier than May 1.
- Player rosters for teams participating in tournaments hosted by Little League International will be released no earlier than May 15, in accordance with Little League International's roster disclosure rules.
- No roster information may be disclosed prior to the applicable release date.
